Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Hey everyone! I hope everyone has been doing really well!

It's been soo long since I updated my journal but I'm going to make a point of updating all the time (even if it's just for a few words and features). I'm still very much around though, never will do a disappearing act, and though dA has changed immensely, there's no reason for me to leave.
I still check my messages, deviations, journals and always reply to comments. I love to know how you all are doing, and I love getting notes and hearing back from you all.
At the moment my biggest distraction has been my holidays (6 weeks infact), which have been full of photography, friends, working two jobs and seeing my beautiful boyfriend!
As for my photography, I'm working towards making a small business out of it... I've had quite a lot of opportunities pop up recently. Possibly my biggest is a wedding coming up in October (working alongside ~BreakFreePhotography), and surprisingly I am getting paid! I'm so used to doing photography for free, that I never expected any payment... I've also had a lot of interest from families, and even started children photography! Recently I photographed ~bettypopi's children (Zoe and Christina) and it went really well! They're both adorable models and it was a pleasure to take their photographs.
