The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Design Contest WIN 4000 POINTS, 20$ AND MORE!I've wanted to hold a design contest for a long time now, and finally I've gathered enough points to do it

What I'm looking for:
Everything! Wolves, foxes, fennec foxes, ferrets, servals, bobcats, tigers, other big cats, small cats, deers, dragons, gryphons, dogs, birds, hybrids, original species.. bring it!
I'm leaving the details to your imagination, but here are some things I really like:
-White base color with black and red markings<33 (mostly on canines)
-Cute and fluffy things! No need to go all big eyes and oversized heads, but animals with fur. Creepy and slimy things just aren't my thing.. Still don't be afraid to make something dark/evil
-Anything tribal
-Native american stuff
-Feathers!
-Tawny, golden, brown, white, red, blue, cyan, gray, black (well, not all combined)
-I like more natural base colors, but with smaller markings in unnatural colors like blue or red
-Long tails, big/long

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

You're like a book of fairies, each morning I turn another page of your "book" and I have a lovely day.....you're such an inspiration and all your work brings me such a joy and hope and light...we all have our dark moments and I've just had mine....but seeing your delicate gallery gave me hope and an incredible optimism and it just reminded me of myself...the girl and the woman I used to be ! Hey guys. I've been really busy lately, people have told me that I should have written Xmas or a New Years journal, but honestly, I was too busy partying and being with my family. I was having such a blast, I only came online to talk to you all, comment and occasionally submit!

Oh my god! New Years Eve was so awesome. The night before that, I got smashed with Charlie and Emma at a lounge/bar. I apparently kept singing and dancing, and talking to random people. ~jimthetoad was working there and I kept saying goofy things to him. Poor guy, never saw it coming.
Next night, New Years eve, I went to a House party with Emma, her bf, and Charlie. I had a blast there too, but I only had a couple of drinks. I really wanted to stay sober and remember the silly things I did. Plus now I can remember getting Charlie to dance with me, he's soo cute. He was so cuddly as a drunk. We both cuddled random people and highfived them for a new year lol. There were lots of people taking Photos but I don't know what happened to them.
I had such a fun time, I even looked after Charlie when he was smashed and got us... somehow... on the tram, train, and walked home, then crashed in bed at 5am.

I think the partying really took it's toll on me lol! On Friday I began to feel sick, Saturday I had a temperature and the Doc said I needed medication before it got worse. I looked like I was burnt! But all is good now, I'm well and happy. I just needed a fair amount of rest, and slept 1000 hours. XD

Now, i've been having a blast testing my own Actions and making lots. So, expect a few more coming up! My latest Action is the Retro & Vintage, I can't get enough of it!

~smev tried out my action "Vignette enhanced" and WOAH the result is amazing! I thought "WHAT!" when I saw it was my own action than did that. Wow. Thanks Sam for giving it a try.

EDIT: used my action too!! Her photography is so amazing and I am honored to feature her work using my action.

One last thing. I have a favour to ask. If ANYONE is downloading/using my actions, please fav or comment. Seriously, i'm not asking for money, just some recognition and support. I get very upset to see 5000+ downloads on my "Light/Dark vintage action" and see only a minimum amount of favs. A little disappointing I must say. It kind of feels like people take and just don't give a crap about giving back. I don't just mean myself. They do it to other people. D:

I am so glad to hear you had a good time celebrating the coming of 2009.

To me you don't see like a girl who would drink, but I bet you are fun to drink with at the same time.

It is very nice to know that people are using your tutorials and downloads too, and I completely agree with you-- a fav and/or comment would do nicely for something so useful and not to mention free.

My New Year's was good, it was so nice to be away from my parents.

Sounds like you really had a good NY!
I spent mine in Sydney with my Aunt, Uncle and younger cousins while my parents and sisters went camping

The fireworks were amazing but what i loved most was all the people in the city (and the drunk ones too) So many random hugs and kisses on the cheeks! Ahh so fun

lol! I heard Sydney's fireworks were simply amazing & the best in the world. I wish I could have been there! I was on Flinders St and I couldn't see the fireworks over the station, how annoying lol!

Mine was nice. I spent the whole night playing Rock Band with my brother and my sister. My sister had bought mics, I was playing guitar and one of them was singing. However, I couldn't resist and sang some songs.
